Why do you require SIN (Social Insurance Numbers) to apply for the All-In Attic Insulation Program?

SIN is required to verify income eligibility with Canada Revenue Agency. This information will be relevant to, and used solely for the purpose of determining and verifying eligibility for the All-In Attic Insulation Program. It will not be disclosed to any other person or organization. Once verified, the SIN is removed from our records and redacted from paper applications for security reasons.

Are the insulation products being installed safe?

Yes, all insulation material is CSA-approved (Canadian Standards Association) and installed by a certified professional installer following all National Building Code of Canada (NBC) rules and regulations.

What does R-Value mean?

R-Value is a measure of how well material resists the passage of heat. The higher the R-Value, the slower the rate of heat transfer through the insulating material and the more effective insulation is in keeping the home warm in winter and cool in the summer. Insulation should always be evaluated by R-Value rather than inches, as different insulation materials have different R-Values per inch of thickness. Learn more about R-Value’s here.

Is it better to insulate the attic floor, the roof, or both?

Unless you are finishing the attic for living space, you should only need to insulate the attic floor to contain the heat within the living space below.

What is the best type of insulation to use in my attic?

Batt insulation or blown-in loose fill insulations are the most commonly used insulation products for attic insulation upgrades. The installer will identify and recommend the best insulation product to use to insulate your attic.

How much insulation should I have in my attic?

Attics should be insulated to anywhere between R-50 and R-55 (between 17-18 inches in depth). The All-In Attic Insulation Program will bring your attic insulation up to R-55.

How much can I save by having the proper amount of insulation in my attic?

Homes with properly insulated attics can save up to $250 per year! Check out our insulation calculator here for your estimated annual savings.

Savings vary.
