What is the All-In Attic Insulation Program?

It’s an easy way to have insulation installed in your attic for FREE. We’ll cover the materials and labour for income-qualified customers. All you need to do is complete a short application, then sit back and relax. It’s that simple!

The All-In Attic Insulation Program ended on June 10, 2024. The deadline for applications has now closed. We appreciate your interest and are committed to continuing to provide you with energy efficiency programs and information to help you save energy and money year-round.

Customers who submitted applications for the All-In Attic Insulation Program between April 1 and June 10, 2024, should allow up to 8 weeks for application processing. Availability is limited, and applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. To check the status of your application, please email AllinAtticInsulation@TakeChargeNL.ca. This program is a pilot that is only being offered to eligible Newfoundland Power customers at this time.

What is the All-In Attic Insulation Program

How Does it Work?

  1. Check the eligibility requirements below to see if you qualify. If you do, submit your completed application no later than June 10, 2024.
  2. If your application is pre-approved, Newfoundland Power will send a certified professional installer to confirm that your home is eligible and verify how much insulation your attic will need.
  3. If your home meets requirements and your project is approved, the installer will then schedule an appointment to insulate your attic.

takeCHARGE covers 100% of the cost of insulation, materials, and labour.

You’re Eligible If...

  • Your primary source of heat is electric. If an additional heating source is used, your home must have a minimum annual electricity usage of 15,000 kilowatt hours (kWh).
  • You are the homeowner, and the home has an active electricity account with Newfoundland Power.
  • Your home was built and connected to the electricity system prior to January 1, 2014.
  • Your home is on a permanent foundation and is intended as a primary residence.
  • You live in the home and occupy it year-round.
  • The amount of insulation in your attic is currently R32 or less.
  • Your annual family net income* must meet the income requirements listed in the table provided below for the total number of people living in your household.
