takeCHARGE, a joint partnership between Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) and Newfoundland Power, is pleased to announce the winners of this years’ annual Kids in Charge (K-I-C Start) school contest.
The aim of the province wide contest is to raise awareness about the importance of saving energy among students. Students in kindergarten to grade twelve were invited to submit projects that demonstrate energy conservation in creative and effective ways for a chance to win. Students were awarded up to $2,500 in Chapters Gift Cards for technology and new school supplies for their class or school.
“Congratulations to all participants for their creative, entertaining and informative submissions. It was clear that all students put a tremendous amount of work into their entries and we were very impressed,” said Stephanie Daley, Manager of Energy Conservation with Newfoundland Power. “The projects were engaging, interactive and very educational. We look forward to this contest as part of our school program as it encourages students to learn about the importance of energy efficiency.”
“To the students and teachers, thank you all for your enthusiastic participation and amazing entries” says Carl Bishop, Manager, Customer Care & Energy Efficiency, takeCHARGE, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. “Students can take this new knowledge and apply it to be more energy efficient in their everyday lives.”
