takeCHARGE launches 7th Annual Energy Efficiency Week! Ask an Energy Expert

takeCHARGE, brought to you by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) and Newfoundland Power, is celebrating their 7th annual Energy Efficiency Week, October 3-9, 2015. This year’s theme, “Ask an Energy Expert”, is all about getting customers the information they need to save energy and money! Customers can take this opportunity to ask takeCHARGE anything they want to know about maximizing the energy efficiency of their homes or businesses.

“With winter on the way, this is the perfect time of year to look for opportunities to make your home or business more energy efficient,” says Peter Upshall, Energy Management Engineer, takeCHARGE, Newfoundland Power. “We look forward to talking energy efficiency with our customers this week, and welcome questions year-round.”

“There are many options for improving energy efficiency – options that put money back in your pocket and help to improve the environment,” adds Barry Brophy, Manager of Energy Efficiency, takeCHARGE, Hydro. “We encourage everyone to ask us a question or visit a takeCHARGE event and learn more about our programs.”

In June 2015, takeCHARGE completed a comprehensive study of how residential and business customers use electricity and the potential for electricity conservation. Results indicated several things, including: in electrically heated homes, heating accounts for over 50% of the total energy usage, and the average house in Newfoundland and Labrador has over 25 light bulbs. This research is being used to tailor the takeCHARGE rebate programs in order to best suit customers’ needs and wants.

Throughout Energy Efficiency Week takeCHARGE has made it easy for customers to ask questions about how they can best save energy and money. They can join in the conversation on social media all week using #EEWeekNL, and takeCHARGE Energy Experts will be holding a Live Chat via Twitter and Facebook between 10-11am and 7-8pm, October 8.
Energy Efficiency Week also marks the launch of the Instant Rebate fall campaign and community event schedule:

  • Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) dinner (October 6);
  • Newfoundland Power Open House in Bonavista (October 7) ;
