Rocky Harbour, NL – Electric vehicle (EV) owners, experts and enthusiasts were at the Gros Morne Arena in Rocky Harbour today for the final EVerything EVs Roadshow. The event was hosted by takeCHARGE, a joint initiative between Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power.
As more drivers are becoming interested in EVs in our province, the event provided an opportunity for people in the area to learn about driving electric from EV owners and enthusiasts, see various models, and compare EVs to traditional fuel-powered vehicles for themselves, by test driving an EV. Members of the takeCHARGE team were also on hand to answer questions and provide information to help drivers decide if an EV may be right for them.
Today’s event in Rocky Harbour is the final EV event that takeCHARGE has planned this year, following previous events in St. John’s, Corner Brook and Gander this summer.
The events were made possible in partnership with Natural Resources Canada, through a $200,000 contribution from the Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative to support zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) awareness projects. Reducing emissions from the transportation sector is critical to achieving Canada’s climate targets and keeping our air clean. The Government of Canada is ensuring that people can be confident in purchasing and driving emission-free electric cars across the country.
“Events like this give people an opportunity to hear from electric vehicle owners in the province and get the information they need to decide if an electric vehicle is right for them,” said Jennifer Williams, President and CEO, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. “We’re excited about the future of electric vehicles in our province and want to thank everyone who participated in our Everything EVs Roadshow events this year.”
“These roadshows have been a great opportunity for customers to learn about the many benefits of driving EVs. said Gary Murray, President and CEO, Newfoundland Power. “To get the real-life experience from EV owners about range and charging and the expert knowledge from the takeCHARGE team has been a great way for potential owners to make informed decisions. Plus, with the takeCHARGE Electric Vehicle Charging Network now up and running across the province, customers can choose an EV knowing that there are lots of places to charge on their adventures.’
