The NEW TakeCharge Greener Homes Program is now accepting applications!
The TakeCharge Greener Homes Program, delivered in partnership with the Government of Canada is an income-eligible program to help qualifying customers improve home comfort and energy efficiency through a limited number of no-cost heat pumps, heat recovery ventilators, insulation and air sealing upgrades, and home energy assessments.
The program is offered province-wide, with targeted programming for remote, isolated diesel communities. If you are in a Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro Isolated Systems community you can still apply and Hydro staff will reach out to you to discover which upgrades you may qualify for.
How it works
The journey for the TakeCharge Greener Homes Program begins when you apply. After that, TakeCharge will help co-ordinate the process alongside your energy auditor and contractor.
This program is offered province wide.
- Isolated Diesel Communities: Program details vary for these communities. to find out how to participate and what upgrades you may qualify for.

If you are interested in finding out more about what is offered in your area, complete an online application and staff will reach out to you to discover which upgrades you may qualify for.
We work with local organizations and other community programs to provide as much support as possible for residents. In diesel communities, current Canada Greener Homes Program upgrades may include insulation and air sealing to make homes more comfortable and use less energy.
In isolated diesel communities, energy efficiency programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each community and its residents. Since every community is different, available upgrades may vary to provide the greatest benefit.
Our programs are created with customers’ needs in mind and are reviewed regularly to make sure they continue to be useful and effective. As community needs, technology, and available resources change, program offerings may also change. This helps ensure that each community receives the most suitable and beneficial support available.
