Heat Pump Installers
The below participating contractors hold journeyperson certification as Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics. TakeCharge requires you to choose a participating certified installer from the list below to complete your heat pump installation, as well as a registered electrical contractor working under permit. Heat pump contractors may typically have a certified electrical contractor working with them. In these cases, a separate electrical contractor is not required.

Heat Pump Installer Criteria:
- Installations must only be completed by Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics. Submission of Red Seal RAC certificates for all mechanics to TakeCharge are required.
- Provide confirmation of good standing in Registry of Companies for Newfoundland and Labrador is required. Continuous good standing is required to remain eligible for the program. Extra-provincial companies must be extra-provincially registered in the Registry of Companies of Newfoundland and Labrador in order to be eligible for inclusion in the program.
- Must have $2,000,000 commercial and/or general liability insurance and must confirm insurance coverage on an annual basis.
- Must have Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission insurance and must confirm insurance on an annual basis.
- Must provide a letter of good standing from WorkplaceNL.
- For qualified customers using this program, must only install ductless mini split heat pumps that are approved and listed on Natural Resources Canada’s database for the zone in which they are being installed.
- Must submit proposed project pricing to TakeCharge.
- Installer history of compliance with the rules, standards, and codes of conduct of other utility-sponsored or administered programs will be taken into account when determining eligibility for program participation.
