Steeped in more than 500 years of history, tradition and progress go hand in hand in the Town of Placentia.
A combination of the communities of Townside, Southeast Placentia, Freshwater, Dunville, and Jerseyside, along with the Argentia Industrial Park, it’s home to a population of about 3,200. Now they’ve renewed their dedication to smart, energy-efficient choices with the TakeCharge Business Efficiency Program. The Town completed a series of upgrades, installing heat pumps, LED Luminaries, High Bay Lighting and LED Wall packs. These made the key buildings at the heart of the community – the Fire Hall, Town Hall, and Arena – more comfortable and cost-effective to operate. And with a combination of Custom and Product Rebates, the Town won’t just reduce their energy costs going forward, they’ve also made these projects as affordable as possible.
One key upgrade was the installation of mini-split heat pumps at the Fire Hall. Heat pumps are a smart solution for municipalities, delivering efficient, reliable heating in buildings that traditionally consume a lot of energy. A perfect fit for this high demand space where heating is essential 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
“It was easy to see the benefits right away,” says Fire Chief Wayne Power, “The heat pumps made a noticeable difference, both in comfort inside the hall and the costs to operate them.”
