LED Exit Signs

To help businesses take advantage of the benefits of LED exit sign technology, takeCHARGE offers a rebate of $20 per full fixture or retrofit kit. Exit signs stay on at all times, making them an ideal target for an energy efficiency upgrade in commercial buildings. LEDs will significantly cut costs compared to the older models and can qualify for takeCHARGE rebates. In addition, exit signs are often located in hard to reach spots so replacing old incandescent bulbs with longer lasting efficient models allow for a reduction in maintenance costs.

What You Need to Know

• Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations require that all internally–lighted exit signs manufactured since November 2004 consume no more than five watts.
• LED Exit signs consume between one and five watts, a fraction of the energy used by incandescent–based signs.
• LED lights last about 100,000 hours, decreasing the risk of having exit signs out of service and increasing safety in an emergency.
