Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power have teamed up to help you save energy and money. In November 2008, the two utilities joined together to help raise awareness of the importance of using energy wisely and encourage more people to take action today to reduce their energy usage.

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, a Nalcor Energy company, is the primary generator of electricity in Newfoundland and Labrador. The company has an installed generating capacity of 1,637 megawatts. Over 80% of the energy generated in 2009 was clean, hydroelectric generation.

Hydro sells its power to utility, industrial and 35,000 residential and commercial customers in over 200 communities across the province. The company is committed to operational excellence while delivering safe, reliable, cost-efficient electricity.

Newfoundland Power Inc. operates an integrated generation, transmission and distribution system throughout the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador. For over 120 years, the company has been committed to providing customers with safe, reliable electricity in the most cost-efficient manner possible. Newfoundland Power serves over 241,000 customers making, up approximately 85% of all electricity consumers in the province.

Newfoundland Power purchases approximately 90% of its electricity from Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, and generates the balance from its own smaller hydroelectric stations. Working together, Newfoundland Power and its employees are committed to providing customers with the service they expect and deserve in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
